Memorizing the names of Allah representing His attributes has many advantages. Recite it 100 times after every compulsory prayer to improve memory and awareness. The reciter will feel the burden disappear from his mind. If you recite it 100 times after the Fajr prayer, it will protect you from all troubles.

As a Muslim, you should learn as much as you can about these beautiful 99 names from the above-mentioned list. Knowing Allah’s name will help you through tough times.

Knowing Allah is a pathway towards loving Him and to know Him, we must begin by learning and using the names He has chosen to reveal to us through the Quran and Sunnah. One of the best ways to solidify our knowledge of His beautiful names and attributes is by applying them in our duas. For every need you have, find an attribute of your Lord which suits it.

Allah (ﷻ) says in the Quran;

وَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡأَسۡمَاۤءُ ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ فَٱدۡعُوهُ بِهَاۖ وَذَرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِینَ یُلۡحِدُونَ فِیۤ أَسۡمَـٰۤىِٕهِۦۚ سَیُجۡزَوۡنَ مَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ ۝١٨٠

Allah has the Most Beautiful Names. So call upon Him by them, and keep away from those who abuse His Names.1 They will be punished for what they used to do.

[Holy Quran 7:180]

هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُ ٱلْبَارِئُ ٱلْمُصَوِّرُ ۖ لَهُ ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ يُسَبِّحُ لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ۝٢٤

He is Allah: the Creator, the Inventor, the Shaper. He ˹alone˺ has the Most Beautiful Names. Whatever is in the heavens and the earth ˹constantly˺ glorifies Him. And He is the Almighty, All-Wise.

[Holy Quran 59:24]

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ "‏ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ تِسْعَةً وَتِسْعِينَ اسْمَا مِائَةً إِلاَّ وَاحِدًا مَنْ أَحْصَاهَا دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ ‏"‏‏.‏

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said;

Allah has ninety-nine names, i.e. one-hundred minus one, and whoever knows them will go to Paradise.

[Sahih Bukhari 50:894]

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:

There are ninety-nine names of Allah; he who commits them to memory would get into Paradise. Verily, Allah is Odd (He is one, and it is an odd number) and He loves odd numbers..

Benefits of Knowing The 99 Names of Allah

Allah (ﷻ) has described himself in great detail and has instructed us to reflect on His names and attributes. When we understand His names, we can use them to call him by them.
The more the servant knows the names and attributes of Allah (ﷻ), the more his faith and the stronger his certainty.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ "‏ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ تِسْعَةً وَتِسْعِينَ اسْمَا مِائَةً إِلاَّ وَاحِدًا مَنْ أَحْصَاهَا دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ ‏"‏‏.‏

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said;

Allah has ninety-nine names, i.e. one-hundred minus one, and whoever knows them will go to Paradise.

Al-Mujeeb (The One Who Responds)

When you’re in desperate need of help, distressed or under great difficulty, call upon Al-Mujeeb. Calling upon Him only for your every need and have certainty He will respond in the way best for you.

Al-Mujeeb is the One Who answers prayers and responds to requests of those who ask and to the call of those who call upon Him by helping them according to His Wisdom in dealing with their affairs. Al-Mujeeb will often give you more than what you ask for, because He will respond to you with what you need and what is best for you!

The Prophet (ﷺ) said;

“Allah is conscientious and generous. He is shy to return the outstretched hands of his servant empty and disappointed.”

[Tirmidhi]

Al-Wakeel (The Disposer of Affairs)

When you feel strapped for time, money or capacity, call on Al-Wakeel.

Al-Wakeel is the One who can be entrusted with all affairs. He is the ultimate Trustee, guardian and administrator of all things and we can trust in the fact that Al-Wakeel will provide the perfect resolution for every matter!

How to live by this Name?

Combine having tawakkul (reliance) with doing your own personal best, then leave the rest to Al-Wakeel. Be someone whom others can trust. Whatever happens in life, turn to Al-Wakeel, trust Him and know He is enough for you! Say;

حَسۡبُنَا ٱللَّهُ وَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡوَكِیلُ ۝١٧٣

Allah ˹alone˺ is sufficient ˹as an aid˺ for us and ˹He˺ is the best Protector.

[Quran 3:173]

Read Quran 14:12

وَمَا لَنَاۤ أَلَّا نَتَوَكَّلَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ وَقَدۡ هَدَىٰنَا سُبُلَنَاۚ وَلَنَصۡبِرَنَّ عَلَىٰ مَاۤ ءَاذَیۡتُمُونَاۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلۡیَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلۡمُتَوَكِّلُونَ ۝١٢

Why should we not put our trust in Allah, when He has truly guided us to ˹the very best of˺ ways? Indeed, we will patiently endure whatever harm you may cause us. And upon Allah let those who would rely [indeed] rely.

Al-Jabbar (The Restorer)

When you find yourself lacking in the necessary skills to achieve a goal, call on Al-Jabbar to fill in the gaps and make up your deficiencies.

Al-Jabbar is the Compeller, whatever He wills is what happens. He is the One who is Exalted, High above His creation and He is the One who Reforms, the One who fixes the situation for His creation.

How to live by this Name?

We should never be oppressive to others, nor misuse our authority. We should ask Al- Jabbaar to fix our affairs, whenever we feel unable to do something. Whenever we feel distress we should ask Al-Jabbaar to mend our hearts.

Read Quran 59:23

هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِی لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡقُدُّوسُ ٱلسَّلَـٰمُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُ ٱلۡمُهَیۡمِنُ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلۡجَبَّارُ ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرُۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ ۝٢٣

He is Allah—there is no god except Him: the King, the Most Holy, the All-Perfect, the Source of Serenity, the Watcher ˹of all˺, the Almighty, the Supreme in Might, the Majestic. Glorified is Allah far above what they associate with Him ˹in worship˺!

Al-Waduud (The Most Loving)

When you feel all alone, call on Al-Waduud to bless you with people who will love you for His sake and always remind you of His blessings.

Al-Wadood is the One Who is the source of all love and affection. His Love is intense, constant and lasting and Al-Wadood is the One Who is deserving of all love and affection! Al-Wadood loves the believers and the believers love Him more than anything.

How to live by this Name?

Fill your heart with the love of Al-Wadood and ask Him to remove your love for this world and what is in it. Seek the pleasure of Al-Wadood so you receive His special love and show love and affection for the believers. Love Al-Wadood above everything and strive to love others for His sake!

وَهُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلۡوَدُودُ ۝١٤

And He is the All-Forgiving, All-Loving—

Dua to seek the love of Allah

للَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ حُبُّكَ، وَحُبَّ مَنْ أحَبَّكَ، وَحُبَّ عَمَلٍ يُقَرِّبُنِي لِحُبِّكَ

O Allah! I ask You for Your love and the love of those who love You, and for the love of every action which will bring me closer to Your love.

اللّهُـمَّ أَعِـنِّي عَلـى ذِكْـرِكَ وَشُكْـرِك ، وَحُسْـنِ عِبـادَتِـك

O Allah, help me to remember You, to give You thanks, and to perform Your worship in the best manner.

Al-Fattah (The Opener)

When you want to improve your relationship and connection with Allah. Ask Al-Fattah to open your heart to Him:

Al-Fattaah is The One who opens all the doors of mercy, profit and sustenance to His slaves. The gate of the solution of every difficulty can be easily opened by Him, He makes clear what is unclear. Al-Fattaah is the One who judges between His slaves with perfect justice.

How to live by this Name?

Ask Al-Fattaah to open your heart to His Path and to knowlegde and to open the doors of mercy, profit and sustenance in your life. When you are in difficulty ask Him for a way out. Make the Quran and the Sunnah the judge of your actions always.

O Allah! For You is all Praise

الَّلهُمُّ لَكَ الحَمْدُ أَنْتَ نُورُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ، وَلَكَ الحَمْدُ أَنْتَ قَيِّمُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ، وَلَكَ الحَمْدُ أَنْتَ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ

Allahumma lakal-hamdu anta noorus-samawaati wal-ardi wa man fihinna, wa lakal-hamdu anta qayyimus-samawaati wal-ardi wa man fihinna, wa lakal-hamdu anta rabbus-samawaati wal-ardi wa man fihinna.

O Allah! For You is all Praise - You are the Light of the Heavens and the Earth and all that is in them; and for You is all Praise – You are the Guardian of the Heavens and the Earth and all that is in them; and for You is all Praise – You are the Lord of the Heavens and the Earth and all that is in them.

O Allah! For You is all Praise
